Ice Cream Machine
Time: 20-30 mins
You’ll need: an ice cream machine
Step 1: Pour the 49 Below base into your ice cream maker and turn the machine on in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
Step 2: After about 15-20 minutes the base should thicken to ice cream
*check the ice cream after 10-12 mins to make sure you don't over churn
Ice Cream in a Jar
Time: 5 min prep, 3.5 hr freeze
You’ll need: A standard size mason jar
Step 1: Fill the mason jar with the 49 Below ice cream base
Step 2: Shake the jar vigorously until the base is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon
Step 3: Put in the the freezer for 3-4 hours, then enjoy straight out of the jar!
2 Bowls Method
Time: 10 min prep, 12 hr freeze
You’ll need: One of each 4L and 8L Stainless steel bowl, hand mixer, ice, salt, freezer safe container
Step 1: Fill the larger bowl with ice and salt, Add 1 part salt to 4 parts ice and mix well
Step 2: Nest the smaller bowl into the ice and pour the 49 Below base into the smaller bowl
Step 3: Use the hand mixer to blend the base on the lowest setting for 8-10 mins
Step 4: Cover the bowls and place into the freezer for 1 hr
Step 5: Remove from freezer and blend again on low for a few mins
Step 6: Pour into a freezer safe container and cover with a lid
Step 7: Let freeze overnight.
Step 8: Remove from container and enjoy!
Ice Cream in a Bag
Time: 40 mins
You'll need: 1 quart size ziplock bag, half a bag of ice, handful of salt
Step 1: Fill the ziplock bag with the ice, toss salt over the ice and mix well.
Step 2 Place the bag of 49 Below ice cream base inside the bag of ice and seal the ziplock bag. (make sure the ice is completely surrounding the ice cream base)
Step 3: Toss, shake, massage, and otherwise "churn" the smaller bag within the ice-filled bag until the base has the consistency of soft-serve ice cream (roughly 30-40 mins)
Step 4: Add your favourite toppings into the ice cream and enjoy right out of the bag!
